The Student Choice Awards will be held on March 31 at 7:15 a.m. in the Theater.

The Student Choice Awards are a way for students who weren’t recognized through Student of the Month and the Academic Pep Assembly or any other ceremonies to be formally acknowledged by the staff as an outstanding student.

“Generally, these are students who go above and beyond in the classroom, or does something a little out of the ordinary, or just different from everyone else, these kids stand out.” Jodie Fowler, event planner, said.

Fowler is in charge of planning, decorations, breakfast, and the medals and certificates given to the students.

The criteria for choosing the students can be for anything.

“Some teachers have just said ‘I appreciate how the student comes into my room everyday, smiling,’ or something like ‘I appreciate that this student hasn’t been absent one day this year,” said Fowler.

Parents and/or guardians are welcome, with breakfast following the ceremony. The breakfast is sponsored by Saint Louis Bread Co., Donuts Palace and Lafayette Renaissance.
