The Lancers (5-3) came away with another big win over Fox (5-3), 31-7, after a solid performance on both sides of the ball. Lafayette initially started the game down seven after the opposing quarterback ran free for a 56 yard touchdown run, but after that it was all Lancers.

The game also featured second string quarterback Ryan Novak, who took over for Ryan O’Connell early on. Novak passed for two touchdowns to Tommy Taylor and threw no interceptions. The other big story in offense was running back Austin Stofer, who accumulated 269 rushing yards, 31 receiving yards and 30 punt return yards, good enough for 330 all-purpose yards.

The defense recovered several turnovers, including three fumble recoveries. After giving up the long QB run, the defense was stellar for the rest of the game. They still gave up 274 rushing yards, but Fox mostly ran the ball and only had 44 passing yards.

Matt Ference, the team’s kicker and punter, said, “It’s been really fun, sharing the last season together with the group of guys we have. I feel like I’ve done everything I could for the team and I feel like we’re figuring some things out and we’ve been playing pretty well.”

The final regular season game is at Parkway South (2-6) on Oct. 14 at 7 p.m.
