Lafayette has 10 finalists in the annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

Out of more than one million entries the Rockwood School District had 21 finalists. These seniors represent less than one percent of seniors all across the United States.

The Lafayette finalists include: Sravya Ainapurapu, Conner Fastenau, Christopher Foley, Yutong Han, Grey Huffines, Patrick Levine, Luke Neise, Hayley Ockerhausen, Paul Stricklin and  Kyle Westendorf.

Assistant Principal Kirti Mehrotra said, ‘It is all in the work that the students put in and also they get the help of the teachers that they are paired with over the four years they are in  school. Here at Lafayette we have a lot of smart students, so I am very proud of these kids.”

Being a finalist will present many opportunities for these kids, this elite group now has the chance to compete in an even tighter competition for roughly 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $33 million.
