After starting the season 3-0, and then losing four straight games, the girls varsity soccer team has had a tough time winning games. But, recently they’re finally pulling it together and have won three straight games dating back to April 18.

The Lady Lancers currently sit at fifth in the conference standings with a 7-5 record. In their most three recent games, the team has shutout every opponent they faced and scored a combined five goals over the three game span.

“The team has so much talent and a lot of potential,” junior Jessica Smith said. “As long as we give it our all and work together as a team I have no doubt we will be successful.

“With only two seniors on the team, it’s important for the seniors to step up and play a big role for the team.

“Being one of two seniors I feel as though it’s important to act how you want your younger kids to act,” senior Devyn McDaniels said. “If they see you do something or play a certain way they are looking up to you and will do what you do.”

Lafayette will look to keep their winning streak alive when they take on Fort Zumwalt South (4-9-2) on April 25 at Summit High School starting at 4 p.m.
