The Lady Lancers participated in a meet against Eureka on Nov. 29. Lafayette won the event 137-47, with several first place finishers in several events.

In the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the team of Lilly Vanbiljon, Paige Daws, Frankie Petrosino and Catherine Behl took first with a time of 1:54.65. In the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, the team consisting of Delaney Thomas, Daws, Kaitlyn Haefner and Behl won first with a time of 1:47.71. In the final relay, the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, the team of Petrosino, Thomas, Vanbiljon and Sarah Higgins came in first place with a time of 3:49.29.

Individually, there were also several winning performances. Thomas took first in the 50 Yard Freestyle and 100 Yard Freestyle. Petrosino took first in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:57.44 and the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 59.27. Vanbiljon took first in Girls 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:03.48. Christie Ellie had a winning performance in 1 Meter Diving with a score of 254.55. Behl took first in the 500 Yard Freestyle, and Haefner took first in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.

Coach Todd Gabel said, “The team is very strong and we will continue to work hard all season to finish up well at Conference and State.”

Last year, the team did very well, and got second in the Suburban West Championship, so the expectations are to do just as well if not better for an experienced swimming team.

Their next event is on Dec. 6, against Mehlville.
