The Lancers (6-3) beat down on the opposing Parkway South Patriots (2-7), 46-7. Lafayette scored early and often, forcing a fumble on the first play, putting up 20 points in the first quarter and scoring 19 more in the second quarter.

On offense, the two quarterbacks, Ryan O’Connell and Ryan Novak, combined for 333 passing yards, 6 touchdowns and no interceptions. Lancers had an additional 210 rushing yards, combining to the 543 yards of total offense. The offense, statistically, did well, but slowed down in the second half and had some miscues, like the botched snap leading to a fumble and the turnover on downs in the third.

A big story on offense was the use of both quarterbacks in the game interchangeably.

Novak said, “It’s up to coach Manne. I’ve asked him before; I got a lot of snaps this week at practice. I got the majority of the first team reps. I was assuming to start, but I asked him today and he said he doesn’t know, so I guess we’ll find out tomorrow.”

The defense was very solid overall. Lafayette had three sacks and forced the aforementioned fumble. The only score for the Patriots was a fake punt pass for a touchdown.

The next game is against the Mehlville Panthers. The game is on Oct. 21 at 7 p.m at home.
