Before Thanksgiving break, Choir Directer Ken Tucker and Vox Solus entered a local competition to win the chance to perform live on stage as the opening act of the Let It Snow Show featuring Pentatonix, Adam Lambert and Rachel Platten.

Out of the eight schools that entered, only five made it to finals, one of which was Lafayette’s Vox Solus.

Now, there is a competition that whichever school gets the most votes based off their video gets the chance to perform with Pentatonix. Each school has a video of them performing a song to show their skill.

Vox Solus has over 1,270 views on their video,” Tucker said.

The voting will stay up until Dec. 9 at 5 p.m. Anyone can vote once per hour.

Hosted by local radio station Now 96.3, their first-ever “Let It Snow Show” is taking place Dec. 16 at the Peabody Opera House. The other schools who made it to finals include Eureka, Francis Howell, Bishop DuBourg and Oakville.

Vox Solus member Sarah Dobson, junior, expressed how excited she truly was for being a part of this competition.

Dobson said, “The most exciting thing is the fact that we might possibly get to open for Pentatonix, which is like my favorite acapella group ever. They can make such amazing music without any instruments. It’s just incredible.”

Dobson also included that it was originally Officer Widdis who told Tucker about the upcoming contest.

“He told us about it a week before we needed to make the recording to enter,” Dobson said.

Anyone interested in voting can do so here.
