On Sept. 12, the Lady Lancers varsity volleyball team participated in the MO/KAN tournament at Lee’s Summit West High School.

The team played four straight games with game one starting at 9 a.m. and the fourth and final game ending around 3:15 p.m.

Lafayette won the first two games against Kearney High School and Blue Valley High School, but started to fade towards the end of the tournament. The team lost to St. James Academy and Olathe Northwest High School in the final two games, putting them at 2-2 to end the day.

“We finished fifth, but I think we were the best team from Missouri in the tournament,” varsity Head Coach Zach Young said. “We played at a high level and improved greatly throughout the day.”

Lafayette also competed in the Tournament of Champions on Sept. 19. The team won three out of the five games they played and tied for second with St. Joseph and St. Pius High School.

After playing in the recent tournament, the Lady Lancers now have a record of 11-5 and stand in second place in the conference standings behind Eureka.

The team’s next match will take place at home against Oakville on Sept. 22 at 5:15 p.m.
