Hockey begins season with 1-1-1 record

November 19, 2015
Lafayette’s hockey team has started their season off with an unusual record of 1-1-1.
The team’s first game took place on Nov. 9 against Eureka.
Senior Trevor Osborne made 25 saves as goalie, seven more than Eureka’s goaltender. Both goalies allowed three in, making the final score 3-3. Goalscorers included senior Chris Franzen, senior Curtis Oliff and junior Jared Preete. Oliff also made an assist, as well as senior Justin Neuse and sophomore Adam Brown.
With a tie on their record, the Lancers went into the Nov. 13 game against Westminster hoping for a win, but fell to the Wildcats 5-0.
“We’ve been off to sort of a rough start, but I think we’re starting to get better,” junior Austin Harris said.
Now with a losing record, their strive for a victory over Fort Zumwalt West on Nov. 16 was evident as they pushed for their final score of 2-1. Junior Sam Matus scored against the Jaguars as well as forward Curtis Oliff.
“Going into the game, we knew Fort Zumwalt West was a difficult team, but we finally started to work together and we found the back of the net. We have really good coaching, so it was up to us to find that rhythm, and I think we did that,” Harris said.
The team will face the Seckman Jaguars at the Hardee’s Iceplex on Nov. 20 at 9 p.m.
“We’re going to try and do the same thing we did Monday. Work hard, work together and hopefully get the win,” Harris said.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
