As the school year comes to a close, there are a few last events and schedules to address regarding finals and Graduation.

Final Exams for seniors will take place from May 11 to May 14 and Advanced Placement (AP) Exams are currently taking place and will end on May 15.

May 15 is also the last day of school for seniors and the practice date for the graduation ceremony which will be held in the Back Gym. As well, Character Breakfasts will be on May 7 and May 14 on the Shelf.

“The Character Breakfast is the breakfast that we have where we try to spend some time and really recognize kids who have stood out for their character that they have displayed here in school.” said counselor Stephanie Mullins.

Final Exams for all other grade levels will take place from May 18 to May 21, and May Day will be on May 19.

According to Meghan Finley, Language Arts teacher and Link Crew leader , May Day is a training session for incoming Link Crew members helping with Freshman Orientation Day. Students participating will also play games and have the chance to get to know other members.

The official Graduation Ceremony will be at Chaifetz Arena on May 20. The official last day of school for all Rockwood students is May 21.

Tickets for the Graduation Ceremony will be available through the senior office. Each senior is allowed 20 tickets maximum for family members and friends to attend.

“They do try to keep it as dignified as they can and as nice as we can make it for everybody. We want everybodys’ family to be able to attend and enjoy it. It’s a big deal to graduate from high school and we want to make it something for everybody.” said Mullins, regarding the Graduation Ceremony.

Final Exams for juniors, sophomores and freshmen will start with 5th Hour finals on May 18, the last full day of school. This day will start with a two-hour-long 5th Hour followed by Hours 1,4,2,3,6 and 7. These hours will be 35 minutes long with the exception of 4th Hour which will be 52 minutes long.

1st and 2nd Hour finals will be on May 19, 3rd and 4th Hour finals will be on May 20, and 6th and 7th Hour finals will be on May 21. During these days, school will still start at 8:16 and end at 12:26 with time for students to take two two-hour-long exams with a 10 minute passing period in between.

Mullins would also like all students to know that they are more than welcome to come see her and the other counselors if they are overly stressed or having any other problems regarding final exams and this very busy end to the school year.
