Lafayette’s boys soccer team continued their undefeated season with a 2-1 nail biting victory over Parkway South.
The game didn’t start well for the Lancers as Parkway South scored a goal only five minutes into the game. After battling back and forth Lafayette was able to score a goal midway through the second period by Jarid Morton, which put the game score at 1-1.
Neither team was able to score a goal in regulation and the game went into two overtimes. Both teams took multiple shots on the goal but both goalies played great defense and didn’t allow anyone to score.
Finally, both overtimes came to an end and the teams commenced in a penalty shootout. Lafayette and Parkway South both scored on their first shot, but goalkeeper Scott Caraway was able to block three shots from Parkway South while Lafayette scored three more goals and won the penalty shootout 4-1.
Thanks to Caraway’s excellent defensive play, Lafayette beat Parkway South 2-1 and continued their amazing season by picking up their 21st win.
With the victory over the Patriots, the Lancers will travel to Parkway South to play Vianney (11-14) on Oct. 28 at 6 p.m.
