Rockwood Summer Academy registration opens March 3, allows students to take prerequisite courses early
March 4, 2014
Rockwood School District’s Summer Academy will open registration Monday, March 3 for classes that will run from June 2-June 27.
Classes offered this summer for high school students are Personal Fitness and Wellness and Art Fundamentals, both of which need to be taken in order to graduate. Credit recovery opportunities and Algebra Boost classes are also available.
During the month long Summer Academy, there are two sessions a day. Session 1 is in the morning from 8 – 11:15 a.m. Session 2 is in the afternoon from 11:30 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. Certain courses are only available in either the 1st or 2nd session (e.g. PFW is during session 1 and Algebra Boost is during session 2), but if a student is in need of both semesters or the full course, like Art Fundementals, attending both sessions 1 and 2 is mandatory.
Registration does not close until the week before the Academy begins.
“A lot of kids don’t know they have to take the class until they find out they failed the class during the school year,” Principal Tim Jones, the Academy’s head administrator, said.
In past years, more classes have been offered, and Jones hopes that more classes will be available to take in the years to come.
For the convenience of students, breakfast and lunch items will be available daily at all Rockwood School district sites.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
