Lancers trounce Seckman, improve record to 11-5-1
October 21, 2014
It was a solid Monday for the Lafayette varsity boys soccer team.
The Lancers performed admirably, scoring 4 goals against a depleted Jaguars team, one who had a field player substituted in as a goalkeeper during the game.
Senior Joe Martens began the scoring frenzy with a goal off of an assist by fellow senior Kyle Rombach. Juniors led the second attack, as Chris Roggenberg added another point to the board off of a cross by Colton Boone.
Connor Schene, senior, was involved in the last two scoring affairs, drawing up an assist and a goal on the 3rd and 4th scores, respectively.
Lafayette’s next game is against the Pattonville Pirates, a team who hasn’t given the Lancers much trouble recently.
Schene said “It’s looking to be an easier game for us.”
The real challenge, however, is the regular season’s last game before Districts against Oakville.
The Tigers have given the Lancers trouble in the past.
“They beat us last year. They’re a pretty tough team so this is going to be a difficult one for us.” Schene said.
The match against the Pirates is at Oakville and begins on Oct. 21 at 4:15 p.m.
