Lafayette boys varsity basketball is ready to officially  kick off the 2014-2015 season tonight at 7 p.mm against Washington at home. The team is feeling fairly confident for the upcoming season after coming back from the Hall of Fame tournament last weekend with a first place finish after going 3-0. Lafayette defeated Glendale 75 to 58, Hillcrest 58 to 50 and Desmet 64 to 51.

Going undefeated in the Hall of Fame tournament is something that the team is very proud of accomplishing, especially senior Zach Steinberg who believes the positive results of the tournament are only a preview of the upcoming season.

“As a team, we played pretty well. We had players like Cameron Scales and Sam Charlton who really stepped up,” Steinberg said.

The boys are hoping to continue their undefeated streak tonight against Washington. The varsity squad has introduced some new players who have been making positive contributions, including senior Sam Charlton. He said he is is excited to be making his varsity debut with this specific team. Charlton believes that winning their first game at home will set a good tone for the rest of the season, and winning tonight is a very achievable goal.

“Overall I think we are looking really good, we still have a lot of things to improve but there is also a lot of good things we have done. We hopefully want to come out with a W, and do new things we’ve been working on.”

Superfans have declared this first home game of the season a White Out.
