Boys cross country team wins State
November 12, 2014
History was made in Jefferson City on Saturday, Nov 8 as the Lancers varsity cross country team took State for the first time in the school’s history.
Sophomore Austin Hindman placed third at State, with juniors Dylan Quisenberry, Devin Meyrer and Alec Haines taking fourth, seventh, and tenth place, respectively.
Haines believes that despite being an individualized sport, it took a lot of group effort to grab the Cross Country title, saying “Us being close as a team was a big factor in our win.”
The runners from this year’s squad showed a considerable amount of individual improvement from last year.
Haines said “Being an All-State runner this time around proved that I had stepped up from last year.”
Despite the fact that the Junior class was the front runner of the competition, let’s not forget about the Seniors, who also put up a valiant effort one last time to bring home the State championship.
“You guys (seniors) taught the [Junior class] a lot and matured us as a team” Haines said. “Thanks for running with us.”
