Dr. Bruce Borchers, Rockwood’s Superintendent since 2010, has announced his resignation. According to the Rockwood website, “The Rockwood Board of Education will accept the resignation of Dr. Bruce Borchers at their meeting, Thursday, April 18.”
Borchers has accepted the job of Superintendent of the Oak Ridge School District in Tennessee. His contract was approved on April 15.
According to the Eureka-Wildwood Patch, “Oak Ridge Board of Education directors in Tennessee unanimously approved a four-year contract with Bruce Borchers in a short, special meeting Monday evening, as published by a reporter for Oak Ridge Today.”
Borchers’ last day in Rockwood will be June 7.
Due to Borchers’ resignation, the Rockwood Board of Education has a tough decison to make. The Board will need to select a new superintendent to replace him. Board President Bill Brown said, “We will exercise due diligence in securing the most qualified superintendent we can find to ensure we move forward with our mission of doing whatever it takes for all students.”
Brown also said the Board will be discussing options for Borchers’ replacement on April 18.
After that, there should be more information regarding Rockwood’s further decision about the search for a superindentent. For updated information about Rockwood’s superintendent search and Thursday’s Board meeting, visit http://www.rockwood.k12.mo.us/news/Pages/default.aspx.
