Lancers trounce Pirates, move on to Marquette

The Lancers won their home opener against the Pattonville Pirates last Friday, Sept. 6. They cruised by their non-conference foe and defeated them with a final score of 35-21, as their record evened to 1-1. Pattonville recorded their second loss, making them 0-2.

The Lancer’s Kevin Hampton scored all five of the Lancers touchdowns, putting the team on his back. Lafayette’s defense was also crucial in getting offense the proper opportunities and generating turnovers. Sophomore kicker Jake Reynolds converted on all five of his extra-point opportunities.

With an all-around terrific showing by both the Lancer’s offense and defense, the Pirates still generated some substantial offense. Eddy Longmeyer, Davon Brooks, and Jake Stroker all scored touchdowns in their effort. Unfortunately for Pattonville, their defense just could not get the job done on the other side of the ball.

In their next matchup, Lafayette will go up against their Suburban West conference rivals, the Marquette Mustangs. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00pm and will be fought on the Mustangs home turf. Parking will be limited and admission is 5$ at the gate.
