Lafayette defeats Lindbergh; will play SLUH for Homecoming
The varsity football team’s record is steadily climbing at 5-1. In fact, despite their loss to Eureka, their overall record is equivalent to the Wildcats. The only difference is that Eureka lost to an out-of-Conference opponent (CBC) and Lafayette lost to the Wildcats, a Conference opponent.
Competing against the rather underrated Lindbergh Flyers, the Flyers defense floundered in the first quarter. Senior quarterback Evan Scales hustled into the endzone for Lafayette’s first touchdown, proving that Lafayette wouldn’t have any trouble scoring . Following the extra point, the Lancer’s defense prevailed against Lindbergh’s seemingly stale offensive possession.
Later in that quarter, senior Eric Yarbrough rushed the ball 64 yards to put the Lancers on the board for the second time that quarter. Sophomore kicker Jake Reynolds also nailed a 42 yard field goal that quarter to put the Lancers up 17-0.
The game remained scoreless throughout the second quarter, until in the third quarter, when Reynolds knocked down a 21 yard field goal to put the Lancers up by 20. With Lindbergh still scoreless, their offense finally got it started after Carl Lovely ran the ball for a touchdown.
With the final quarter approaching, Lindbergh’s offense was beginning to get things started. Lindbergh quarterback Chuck Houska fired an 80 yard pass to Ben Kraft, putting the score at 20-14. Jake Reynolds proceeded to convert on another one of his field goals making the score 23-14. After Reynolds’s field goal, Houska then found receiver Garrett Kruger for a touchdown. Unfortunately, it was too little too late for the Flyers offense, with Lafayette winning by just two points.
Lafayette will face SLUH in the Homecoming game Friday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
