Auto Lotto: Ford Drive One 4UR School event success for school, student

In an effort to win prizes and support Lafayette Renaissance, students and community members sped up to LHS last April for the Drive One 4UR School fundraiser.

Renaissance teamed up with Bo Beuckman Ford for the event, which gave participants the opportunity to test drive some of Ford’s latest models.

For each car that was driven, Ford donated $20 to LHS.

The incentive to participate was the chance to win a free parking pass for this school year; all participants were entered into a drawing for this prize.

Senior Cole Early was the lucky winner.

“My mom drove for me, and she entered me into the contest. I won the parking pass, and I got to choose where in the parking lot I wanted my spot to be,” he said.

Early’s mom drove in the event in Cole’s name because participants had to be 18 at the time of the event to drive themselves.

Matt Landwehr, business teacher, sponsors the event and was pleased with the turnout.

“Last year we raised $5300, and that money goes to Renaissance, which funds a lot of different programs around school,” he said.

Landwehr, who is gearing up for another event with Ford this year, says that these types of fundraisers are important to him.

“As a Lafayette grad, I know the importance that academics have in our building and in our community. I think Renaissance is a great way to promote and reward academic excellence,” he said.
