The rumors are true: David Freese is coming back to Lafayette.

“As many of you may have heard by now, tomorrow’s basketball game will be David Freese Recognition Night and he will be in attendance,” Activities Director Steve Berry announced at lunch on Jan. 5.

Berry said due to student and community interest, 1,000 pre-sale tickets are being sold for Recognition Night, which will take place in the Gym on Jan. 6 during the boys and girls basketball games against Mehlville.

Tickets cost $5 each and there is a limit of one ticket per student. They are being sold on a first come, first serve basis.

However, for Superfans, the opportunities are much greater.

Berry said Superfans will be given their pre-sale tickets free of charge and will receive one more perk.

Superfans who are picking up a ticket for the game will also get to participate in a special meet and greet with Freese from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room.

At the meet and greet, Freese will have 8 x 10 photos that he will sign for students. Lifetouch will also have a photographer taking pictures of students with Freese that can be downloaded later from a special website. More information on those photos will be given at the event.

Students are alwo welcome to bring an item for Freese to sign, but no bats will be allowed.

Students who are not Superfans members will also have a chance to get an autograph and photo. Students who buy one of the pre-sale tickets will be entered into a raffle where 75 will be selected to attend the meet and greet.

The doors will open at 3:30 p.m. for the 4:15 p.m. start of the Lady Lancers game followed by the boys varsity game versus Mehlville.
