Every year a certain week is designated as Teacher Appreciation Week.
“The school recognizes it because we really appreciate our teachers! Teachers are the group that work most closely with students,” said Associate Principal Renee Trotier.
Trotier, along with Renaissance, is in charge of holding various activities througout the week to honor the teachers.
Monday students made signs and hung them up around the school. On Tuesday teachers were given notes that students had written to them. A Renaissance lunch was held on Wednesday. Each administrator will put a note in the mailboxes of teachers they evaluate. Friday is another Renaissance treat day.
Trotier said, “for a long time, the tradition at Lafayette was to give teachers an apple during Teacher Appreciation Week. Three years ago, the administrative team decided that we wanted to do more so we began working with students to make each day special.”
