At the 2023 Prom, Class of 2023 graduates Joe Marlo and Will Barry stay at the edge of the main floor to do their dancing. Because the small dance floor was the most crowded area, many students gathered around the edges with friends or in small groups.

Senior Celebration wraps up high school years

Senior Celebration will be held after graduation Wednesday, May 25 at the Double Tree Hotel in Chesterfield.  The event will start at 11 p.m. and last until about 5 a.m. or 5:30 a.m. the morning of May 26.

Tickets will be available for $90 at the door for cash only. So far, 420 tickets have been sold to Class of 2011 graduates.

There will be basketball courts, casino style games and other activities to help the Senior Class celebrate the end of their high school years.

Assistant Principal Tim Jones said that Lafayette is the only high school in Rockwood that holds the Senior Celebration at a hotel.

“The Double Tree has amenities that the school cannot provide, which makes it more fun for the seniors to have it at the hotel,” Jones said.

Many parents and area businesses also contributed to the event. For a list of those sponsors, click here:

The chairs for the event are  Lea Hardcastle  and Judy Nicholson. They said the following in a press release:

To All Celebration 2011 Committee Chairs and Parent Volunteers,

As Celebration 2011 Co-Chairs, we would like to thank each and every one of the parents and friends of our Senior Class who worked so hard to make Celebration 2011 a successful, fun, safe, and memorable night for Lafayette Seniors.

“It takes a village…” to accomplish a large and complex event such as Celebration. Without your unwavering support and extraordinary efforts, it would not have been possible.  An enormous amount of work is required to plan, coordinate, and execute an evening of celebration, fun, and entertainment for the over 300 graduates attending. Thousands of hours were freely given by our volunteers to make it happen.  Because of you, all of the graduates attending will have a lifetime of memories as a fitting capstone to their time at Lafayette.

A special thank you goes to the Senior Directors, Heidi Aslin and Maggie Passi for their support and assistance.  Also, we are very grateful to Dr. Jones and Donna Shaffer for their guidance, help, and direction.

Celebration 2011 continued the tradition of providing a safe, alcohol and drug-free way for our graduates to enjoy a memorable graduation night.  Because of your work, they not only have a lifetime of memories, but a lifetime to remember them.  We could not ask for a better reward for our efforts than that.
