Cardinals fever is not only spreading through the state of Missouri, but also the halls of Lafayette. Students, teachers and faculty prepare for the World Series Game Two tonight, Oct.20, against the Texas Rangers here in St. Louis.
Lafayette graduate David Freese, third baseman for the Cards, is being widely recognized after winning the National League Championship Series Most Valuable Player. The school has made a banner congratulating him on his successes, which allows students to sign their name and wish him luck.
Senior Michael Mueller is lucky enough to get the opportunity to attend his first World Series game.
“I’m hoping for a shout out from David Freese,” said Mueller.
He added, “My lifelong dream is to be on the ‘Kiss Cam.’”
Also in attendance will be teacher Danna Phillips, who will be attending her first World Series game as well.
“I’ve been a Cardinals fan since about 8th grade. First it was the Yankees but I finally came to my senses and became a Cards fan,” said Phillips.
