Image wins big in state journalism contest

After thorough judging of several issues of the newspapers and individual stories from student publications all over Missouri, the Missouri Interscholastic Press Association (MIPA) named journalism award winners in individual and over-all categories on April 7.

Among these awards were the overall newspaper evaluations and the overall online evaluations in which the Image was given an All-Missouri rating and Excellent award respectively.

Individual pieces from the newspaper were also submitted to the contest and Image staff members received  Show-Me Awards.

In all, the staff earned 16 individual awards for cartoons, feature stories, in-depth articles, news stories and sports writing.

The winners included seniors David Adams, Teresa Avila, Rachel Brown and Mina Yu, juniors Caleb Cavarretta, Kara Campbell and Adam Harris and sophomores Dominic Corvington, Allyssa Knowling, Alicia Mestre, Mia Schenone, Max Thoman, Gian Wessel and Molly White.
