During the National High School Journalism Convention award ceremony, Lafayette student publication staffs celebrate their peers. The convention took place Nov. 10-12 in downtown St. Louis. A lot more people on my staff came to this convention because it was here, which was different than other [years], yearbook Editor-In-Chief Kaylee ODell said.

GroupMe, a communication platform, is blocked on all RSD devices and internet. Following federal regulations, the district is tightening up its access to a variety of resources that don’t fit specific approved criteria.

Because there were no applicants for the open study hall position, In-School Suspension teacher Dale Walker has been supervising the study hall room each day since the beginning of the year, and Student Restore Program teacher Whitney Ralph is supervising students in ISS. “It’s temporary. They’re looking for a permanent teacher to fill in, so they had me move here to have a constant person,” Walker said.
Living with less

Senior Alison Hunt uses her skills to make balloon art like mermaids and other animals. Hunt stumbled on the opportunity to make balloon art on accident when she worked as a lifeguard.
A new twist on a teenage career
Going for the shot, junior Austin Reed plays in the AcLab Lafayette Pickleball Society club with junior Danny Salem-Pon. Reed began playing this sport before the club was founded on Oct. 5, 2022. “[We play] once every couple of weeks, we go over to the courts near my friend’s house on a good weekend when the weather is nice and we just hit around,” Reed said.

At the Forest Park Festival on Sept. 10, Lafayette varsity girls cross country gets recognized for placing second. Senior Grace Tyson placed first, junior Natalie Barnard placed fourth and senior Elissa Barnard placed eighth.
