The Lafayette Lancers boy’s lacrosse season ended Monday, May 16, with a playoff loss to the Marquette Mustangs.

The Lancers finished their regular season with a record of five wins and 11 losses. Lafayette had a difficult schedule including local lacrosse juggernauts, like MICDS and CBC, and lost some close games against Ladue, Vianney and others.

Against Marquette on Monday, Lafayette put up 12 points but had a lacking fourth quarter, resulting in a 15-12 Marquette win.

“We were up by two in the third quarter, but Marquette scored eight goals in the fourth quarter,” Drew Feltz said.

Feltz attributes the loss to a shortage of players and generally lacking performance in the fourth quarter.

Looking to next year, Feltz says the loss of this year’s seniors won’t have a huge impact on the team as there are relatively few senior players. Feltz also said the team is looking towards new players to fill positions like FOGO (face-off, get-off) among others.

“We’re going to do some summer camps to get better and really use the off-season to improve,” Feltz said.
