Boys Cross Country begin their season at Fleet Feet XC Kickoff
August 23, 2016
The boys cross country team is looking to three-peat as State champions despite losing a big amount of last season’s members. They lose last year’s first, fifth and eleventh place finishers from last year in Devin Meyrer, Alec Haines and Dylan Quisenberry respectively. Losing another set of seniors after winning a State title leaves some big shoes to fill for current seniors like Tommy Laarman and Austin Hindman.
Junior Nassim Oufattole was one of the team’s best runners last season, and now is a leader of a team in big turnover.
“We’re going to try and win State,” he said as expectations for the season despite losing last year’s seniors.
However, he also said, “Of course it will be more difficult.”
They also lose one of last year’s runners in senior John Harrop, who does not have the time for cross-country this year. “We’re going to miss him,” said Oufattole.
The boys cross country team has their first meet Tuesday, August 23 at Parkway Central against CBC, Ladue, Marquette and Webster Groves.
