Lady Lancer basketball bumped out in Districts
March 6, 2015
Succeeding in a nail biting win, the varsity Lady Lancer basketball squad matched up with the Parkway Central Colts. The final score was 44-43 as they captured a single point lead in the final frame, as the Lancers catapulted their record to 13-12 and continued through District play.
The next night, the Lancers played the Washington Blue Jays. The Blue Jays have had a terrific season, compiling a 21-5 record so far. They knew the competition was to be fierce.
The game opened up positively for Lafayette however, as they jumped ahead early with a 13-5 lead in the first quarter. But they appeared to run out of gas in the second, when Washington concentrated their efforts and put up 15 while Lafayette could only convert on three baskets.
The next half, Washington scored 26, compared to Lafayette’s 15, helping them lengthen their lead even farther.
Sophomore Paige Miller said, “We played very hard, in fact the hardest of all season, but it was really the last two minutes of the 4th quarter that killed us.”
The final score was 46-34, as Lafayette was bumped out of the second round of District play.
Juniors Maria Johnson and Jenny Kohl led the team in score, combining for 18 points. With this loss, their season comes to an end, but look for them to be even stronger next year as many of their star players will develop to become even better.
Miller said, “We’re higher than we thought we’d be. We played the best we’ve ever played last night. Everyone was really proud of that, but we just wish the outcome would have showed that.”

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
