On Friday, February the Lafayette varsity girls swim & dive team competed against Parkway South, winning the meet by only a handful of points.

Sophomore Lily Van Biljon said, “Freshman Frankie Petrosino did really well. She did the 200 M and 500 M freestyle and came in first place.”

Junior Kendall Hansen won the 100 M backstroke, helping the team collect more points which contributed to the win. Junior Katherine Lucken, Lily Van Biljon, Frankie Petracino, and senior Claire Kirchhoeffer won the 200 medley relay.

During one point of the meet, the tension was high. Three quarters of the way through the 400 freestyle relay, the swimmers were down for the first 300 meters. But Frankie Petrosino dove in for the final 100 meters and won the race, allowing the Lancers to achieve an exciting come from behind win.

All around, the team displayed confidence and remained cool and collected as they captured the win.

Conference championship play begins today.
