After a heartbreaking loss in their season opener to St. Joseph’s Academy, the Lady Lancers were hungry for revenge. On Saturday at St. Joseph’s own Tournament of Champions, they got their vengeance, beating the Angels twice in the same day. In the first game of pool play, the Lancers defeated the Angels 27-25, 25-23.

Just a few hours later, the two teams met again in the tournament semifinals. After losing the first set 21-25, the Lancers rallied back to win the next two sets 25-19 and 25-18 to take the match and advance to the tournament finals, where they faced St. James Academy.

Unfortunately, the Lancers were unable to beat St. James, losing the match 25-22, 25-11 and taking second place in the tournament. Junior Alayna Martin said, “Two things we focused on during the day were energy and perseverance and we kept up with that throughout the day.”
