Girls tennis dominates at Districts

The Lafayette varsity girls tennis team has just finished up their regular season and is at Districts until the third of October.  The pressure is on for the varsity girls, as they have a solid record of victories to maintain. The area leaders in singles include senior Abby Carpenter, senior Courtney Trube, and sophomore Caroline Pozo.

There is a lot of talent on this years team with the addition of Pozo, who transferred to Lafayette after finishing second in the state last year as a freshmen member of St. Joseph’s tennis team. Along with Pozo, Carpenter has held the Lafayette record for most singles wins in a high school career. Carpenter is hopeful Lafayette will power through at districts considering the amount of experience the team has, but she is still nervous.

“It is possible we can go to state as a team but it will not be easy,” Carpenter said.

The team is facing Parkway South and Marquette at home and has already finished their first day of Districts.
