Boys and girls track take second place at U-City meet
April 15, 2014
Over the weekend, both track teams headed to University City to compete in the U-City Meet. With a lot of talent enrolled in the meet, it would be a challenge to the entire Lafayette track program.
However, the boys and girls teams took second overall. The boys were right behind Kirkwood in points, while the girls fell to defending State champs Hazelwood Central by 32.5 points.
Some standout performances at the U-City meet were by senior Eric Yarbrough, who won the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.69, the fastest time in the State.
Sophomore Dylan Quisenberry finished first in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:24. A freshman school record was set by Austin Hindman in the two mile run, ran in 9 minutes and 45 seconds.
For field events, sophomore Brendan Scales continues to work towards breaking the school record. Scales threw 52’8″ which put him in first past Hazelwood Central’s Roderick Johnson.
Earlier in the season, the boys took first at the Lindbergh Invitational. A two-day meet will take place this week on Wednesday and Thursday for the boys team at Parkway Central. And for the girls, their Lady Lancer meet is this Saturday and will be looking to come out on top at the end of the day.
