Lancers defeat Oakville; look to fly past Lindbergh

Compiling a 4-1 record, the Lancers are looking to be enhancing their winning streak to 5 in a row. With the season halfway through, the Lancers competed against the 2-2, (now 2-3) Oakville Tigers and dominated. This Suburban West Conference game was critical in deciding the division picture for this season.

Lafayette’s own Alvin Houston returned the opening kickoff for 91 yards, putting the Lancers up early to begin the game. At the end of the second quarter, Oakville quarterback Andy Oliver hit Arsante’ Conners for a touchdown to tie the game. In the second half, senior quarterback Evan Scales through for a 12-yard touchdown to Cole DuPont and ran for another, combining for a total of 21 points.

The Lancers are hoping to continue their winning streak but will have a minor setback as they face Lindbergh. Senior Kevin Hampton is a major contributor to the team’s success; however, with an injury to his leg, he won’t be able to participate in tonight’s matchup. Leading the Lancers in rushing, Hampton is one of the highest ranked prospects according to Stltoday.

Lafayette will face off tonight at home at 7pm against the Lindbergh Flyers.
