Girls volleyball on an 11-match winning streak

Without dropping a set in the past 11 games, the girls volleyball team has found its rhythm, easily defeating competitive teams. Compiling a record of 20-1 so far, the girls prepare for 10-10 Oakville tonight at Lafayette.
Last night, Oct. 7, the squad faced off against Villa Duchesne on Lancer territory. Senior captains Lily Johnson, Jackie Scott and Maggie Scott led their team to a two set victory, winning 25-17 in the first, and closing it out with a score of 25-19.
Against 8-17 Fox last Thursday Oct. 3, Jackie stepped up offensively with seven kills, while Lily scored the highest points with eight. The girls respectively took the win, 25-11 in the first set, and 25-13 in the second.
Overall this season, the Lady Lancers have shown promise for post-season competition, racking up top-ranked statistics. Johnson leads to the team with 35 service aces, and averaging 4.78 kills a game. Junior Tori Roe has contributed defensively with 198 digs so far.
Oakville and the Lancers compete tonight, Oct. 8, at 5:15 p.m.
