Boys soccer knocks off Cape Notre Dame, Francis Howell Central and MICDS

The boys soccer team goes on a win streak after beating Parkway West, Cape Notre Dame, Francis Howell Central and MICDS. This is the most consecutive games that the Lancers have won this season and they hope to keep the streak going with the post season right around the corner.

It came down to the wire when the boys played Cape Notre Dame.  Their record did not make Notre Dame seem as if they were a threat, but they held the Lancers to a no scoring game. After the clock ran out, the game went into overtime where nothing seemed to change. This match was all defense with little scoring opportunities for either team. For the Lancers, many players were injured including ___ which resulted in the poor play from the boys. The pressure was on as the game then went into penalty kicks that would determine the winner. It came down to the final PK where junior Joe Martens scored to lift the lancers up to a victory.

After a game that was almost another loss for the lancers, they knew it was time to get things together. The boys played Francis Howell Central whose record was not looking very promising. Central scored late into the first half putting them up 0-1. The Lancers picked up their momentum second half where senior Joe Hansen scored to make it a tie game. The game went back and forth and finally senior Jack Fladda found the back of the net with ten minutes left to play in the game. This put the Lancers on top which would end the game in a victory.

After going on a three game win streak the Lancers hoped to keep it going. Their next opponent was MICDS (5-7), another game that the boys needed to take advantage of. The Lancers offense stepped up big time as they shutout MICDS 3-0. The crew dominated in their next three games, beating Lindbergh 3-0, Westminister 3-0 and Hazelwood West 4-0.

The Lancers play Parkway South home at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday with hopes to continue this win streak as the season rolls on!
