Boys Cross Country
At the Suburban Conference State Championships, Oct. 14, Lancers finished 4th overall but 3rd in the Red Pool. Senior Jack Robeson placed 2nd. Notable placements include senior Dillon Cronin at 5th,senior Luke Snyder at 24th place, junior Daniel D’Andrea placing 16th and junior Michael D’Andrea placing 18th. Robeson got a new personal record in his race. “I’m pretty happy with the race. It was the first race I felt like I ran well, and I got a 9 second PR from it, which felt rewarding for the race. The start was super cool. The official lined us up too early, so people started cheering, and it got really loud, which was a nice way to start my final conference run,” Robeson said. In addition to getting a personal record, Robeson was pleased to beat a local rival. “The team was looking good, and we beat Eureka, which matters for us because Eureka is one of our biggest competitors for Districts,” Robeson said.
Girls Cross Country
Finishing 2nd place overall at the Suburban Conference Championships, Oct. 14, the Lady Lancers won a conference title by finishing 1st as a team in the Red Pool. Senior Natalie Barnard placed 1st overall. Additional placements include freshman Alexis Sandburg at 6th place, senior Ashley Rinkenberger at 8th place, junior Abigail McGinnis placing 15th, junior Mizelle Groenwald placing 19th, sophomore Shreeya Basappa at 23rd, and senior Anna Burnett at 24th place.
Girls Golf
Junior Addy Surber will be playing at the Class 4 State Championship, Oct. 16-17, at Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar. Surber was undefeated through out the regular season and won Conference Player of the Year.
Field Hockey
For the end of their season, the Lady Lancers won the last two games. During their Oct. 10 game against Parkway Central, the Lady Lancers won 7-0, with senior Olivia Williams scoring a total of 4 goals. The Lady Lancers then beat Marquette in a home game with a narrow 4-3 win, Oct. 12. Williams is still leading the St. Louis area in goals with 34. The Lady Lancers will be playing in their first round of Districts at home, Oct. 17, at 4:15 p.m. The Lady Lancers are going into districts with a 11-3 record.
Football
For their senior night home game Oct. 13, Lancers defeated Ritenour 24-21 in overtime. The Lancers won with a overtime field goal. Junior Jack Behl led the Lancers to victory with 25 completions for 302 yards. The Lancers will travel to Lindbergh, Oct. 20, for their last regular season game of the year. The Lancers are on a seven game winning streak with a 7-1 record, last year they finished 7-4.
Boys Soccer
The Lancers went 1-2 this week. They got shut out by Westminster, 1-0, Oct. 10. Then they lost at Kirkwood, 2-1, Oct. 12. However, the Lancers capped off the week with a win against Parkway West, 2-1. Seniors Matheus Gasparino and Matt Monschein scored in their win. This week the Lancers will take on two Rockwood opponents, Marquette at home Oct. 17 and Summit at home Oct. 19. The games will start at 6 and 4:30 p.m. respectively.
Boys Swimming & Diving
The Lancers lost to Kirkwood 98-88, Oct. 10. The Lancers will face Lindbergh, Oct. 17, at Lindbergh. In addition to that meet, the Suburban Conference Yellow Pool Diving Tournament will happen Oct. 18.
Girls Tennis
In her first and last year of high school tennis, senior Amber Yin became a State Champion. Without dropping a set all season, Yin went undefeated. And that streak continued through Oct. 12-13 in the Class 3 State Singles Championships, where she also did not drop a set. She defeated last year’s second and third place State finishers en route to her championship. Yin is excited to have achieved her goal. “I’ve been working towards winning State the entire season, so I knew I had a good chance to do well. I’m really happy with how everything turned out since not only did I win, but I also played really good tennis, which made the whole tournament even more exciting for me,” Yin said. Also achieving All-State status doubles partners sophomore Mia Yin and freshman Mary Sublette took 5th in the Class 3 State Doubles Championship. The Lady Lancers will go to the team State Semifinals Oct. 20. Even after winning a State title, Amber is still focused on team State. “I’m still pretty focused on doing well at team State, and I don’t want to be distracted from individuals. I want to do my best for the team and hopefully show a good result competing against the other top 3 teams in the state,” Amber said.
Girls Volleyball
Undefeated for the fourth week in a row, the Lady Lancers went 7-0 this week. With their only conference game of the week, the Lady Lancers swept Incarnate Word Oct. 11. Then the Lady Lancers went undefeated and won the Ozark Invitational. They swept Joplin, Park Hill South, Liberty and Ozark. They dropped one set against Nixa and Eureka but still beat them. The Lady Lancers now have a record of 30-2. When they became State Champions last year they only had a record of 32-6.
Softball
In the first round of Districts, the Lady Lancers swept Waynesville 14-0. But they would end up losing the Battle of 109 to Eureka in the District Semifinal.
