Boys Basketball 

The Lancers began the postseason by beating Parkway South, 68-63, in the quarterfinals March 1. They have four-game win streak against Parkway South, with the last game ending 63-42, on Jan. 21, 2022. On March 3, they faced Parkway West in the semifinals. Senior Matt Haefner led the Lancers as he put up 31 points in the 54-52 win. This sets up another Battle of 109 for the District Championship, as Lafayette (16-12) will face Eureka (16-10) tonight, March 6 at Eureka at 6 p.m. In their two previous match-ups this season, the Lancers and Wildcats have each taken one game each.

“We are extremely excited about tonight’s game. We have prepared all season for this. Eureka is an extremely tough opponent, especially at their place. We expect a dogfight and will give our best efforts. We hope to see a lot of Lancer fans in the stands,” Head Coach, Bryan Keim, said.

Girls Basketball 

The Lady Lancer’s season ended March 2 in the District Quarterfinals. They lost to Lebanon High School, 67-50, ending their season with an overall record of 4-23. Despite the lopsided record, sophomore Taylor Naina scored 267 points across 26 games. With 10.3 points per game average, she was the team’s top offensive player. She also led in rebounds with 160.

“The bonds we all made as a team are what this season memorable. We may not have had the best season score-wise, but the friendships and laughs made up for it,” senior Faith Halter said.
The other seniors on the team include Jillian Leabig, Sofia McClellan, Destiny Polk, Kaliyah Saddler and Shru Singh.

Hockey 

The Lancers lost in the final of the Wickenheiser Cup against Fort Zumwalt. The final score was 2-1, with junior Kyle Kraft scoring Lafayette’s only goal. The team improved greatly over the course of the playoffs, as they had a 5-4-1 record. Their regular season record was 2-16-3. Junior Grayson Eble ended up as the season’s leading scorer, with 14 goals and 9 assists, despite only playing seven games in the regular season.
