Boys track and field takes top prize in Quad; baseball edges toward 20 wins

Looking at his third base coach, senior Andrew Alwell gets ready to step back into the box in a game against Kirkwood on April 27. The Lancers won, 9-6 and finished with eight hits.

Baseball: The Lancers faced off against Kirkwood on April 27 and won, 9-6, improving their overall record to 16-5. Senior John Kramer continued to rake, hitting two home runs in that game. Senior Justin Prager also added a home run that game. Later in the week, on April 30, the Lancers fell to Parkway West in a close one, 4-3.   Senior Mitchel Hoffman had two RBIs in the game against the Longhorns. Their current record stands at 16-5.

Boys Lacrosse: The boys lacrosse team continues to fight through a rough patch. On April 27 at Seckman, the Lancers lost 14-6, which moves their overall record to 1-10. The Lancers have Senior Night on the LHS turf May 4 at 7:30 p.m.

Girls Lacrosse: On April 23, the Lady Lancers beat Kirkwood, 9-7 to move their overall record to 3-6. Junior Ainsley Hails led the team with four goals. The team faced Villa Duchesne on April 29 and lost 18-7, bringing their overall record to 3-7. Hails once again had a three-goal game.

Girls Soccer: On April 26, the Lady Lancers beat Kirkwood, 4-3. Junior Rylee Howard continued to dominate, with three goals in the game. On April 27, the team beat Lindbergh 6-0, with freshman Emily Derucki scoring three goals and Howard not far behind with two . On April 28, they beat Incarnate Word, 6-0, with Howard again having a three-goal game.

Boys Golf: On April 26, the Lancers won the team championship at the Lake Forest Challenge over 18 other schools, with a score of 338 points. Junior Trip Sanfelippo had the second-lowest 18-hole score, shooting a 79. Senior Hayden Somach, junior Kyle Rinkenberger and freshman Reid Fortel finished withing just a few points of one another, with scores of 85, 85, and 89 respectively. On April 27, the Lancers beat Northwest and Fox, with Sanfelippo, Rinkenberger and Somach having rounds that were one over par, two over par and three over par. On April 29, the Lancers finished in third place in the Rockwood Quad, with Somach finishing in third place , with a score of three over par 75. Sanfelippo finished in a close fourth with 76.

Boys Tennis: On April 26, the Lancers beat Chaminade 7-2. On April 29, the Lancers beat Kirkwood 8-1, bringing their overall record to 8-1. Districts begins later this week.

Boys Track and Field: On April 30, the Lancers finished in first place at the Parkway Central Quad. The Lancers had multiple event champions, including junior Bross Miller in the 1600m race, sophomore Brycen Compton in the 400m race and senior Randle Smith in the long jump. Senior Vikas Devulapalli finished in first in the 3200m race. Senior Sam Manson finished first in the triple jump. Senior Vance Lear finished in first in the javelin throw. The team of Devulapalli, junior Malik Hampton and junior Nikolas Malek and senior Eric Reed took first in the 4x800m race, and the team of Compton, freshman Zakaylen Jones and Smith placed first in the 4x200m race. The team of senior Pernell Garner, Jones, freshman David Marshall and junior Alex Wildt finished in first place in the 4x100m race. Finally, the team of Malek, Miller, Reed and Wildt finished in first place in the 4x400m race.

Girls Track and Field: The Lady Lancers finished in third place at the Eureka High School Invitational on April 30. Senior Hope Ware and sophomore Elissa Barnard took the top two spots in the 3200m race, finishing first and second respectively.

Boys Volleyball: On April 27, the Lancers beat Seckman in three , improving their overall record to 11-4. The Lancers continued adding to the win column and beat Lindbergh in three sets on April 30, improving their overall record to 12-4. On May 1, the Lancers came second in the Lafayette Invitational.

Girls Water Polo: On April 29, the Lady Lancers beat Ladue 12-10, with senior Sophie Arceneaux recording three goals along with one assist. The Lady Lancers then lost to Oakville 13-6 on May 1.

Water Polo: On April 26, the Lancers beat Rockwood Summit 17-16, with senior Sophie Arceneaux recording five goals with two assists. Junior Dylan Vorbeck recorded seven goals and three assists during the same game. On April 27, the Lancers lost to Chaminade 17-4. On April 3o, the Lancers beat Pattonville 15-3. Junior Dylan Vorbeck recorded four goals and no assists.
