Boys swim finishes out season at State; Lancer hockey plays four games

Weekly sports update: Nov. 8-Nov. 15

Hockey:
The Lancers played a three-game week, posting one victory and two losses. On Nov. 8, the Lancers fell to Chaminade, 6-4. However, they quickly rebounded with a win 4-1 against Edwardsville at East Alton on Nov. 11. In their last game of the week, the Lancers faced a tough 5-2 loss against Municipal Conference rival Kirkwood. For the new week, on Nov. 15, the Lancers lost to the undefeated Vianney Griffins 7-1, with junior Andrew Knapp scoring the only goal. Their current record sits at 2-3, and they hope to even the scale against CBC on Nov. 22.

Boys Swimming and Diving:
On Nov 13, the varsity boys swimming and diving team finished 14th place overall at the Class 2 MSHSAA State Championships. Senior Devon Gordon finished 3rd overall in diving, and sophomore Caleb Warner finished 3rd place in the 100m breaststroke. Warner also finished 11th place in the 200 individual medley. Sophomore Sam Bolla finished 13th place in the 100 butterfly. In the 200 medley relay, the team of freshman Ryan Huang, Bolla, sophomore Gregory Shao and Warner finished in 13th place. Lastly, in the 400 freestyle relay senior Dylan Vorbeck, junior Masis Bagautdinov, Bolla and freshman Matteo Freire finished in 16th place.
