Baseball sweeps Lindbergh; Girls soccer continues to dominate

Weekly Sports Update: April 5-April 11.

Baseball: Playing on April 6, the Lancers beat the Lindbergh Flyers 9-3, improving to a 10-1 record. Seniors John Kramer and Justin Prager led the team with two hits each. Kramer drove in three runs, including a home run. Prager had a double and drove in two runs. The Lancers played Lindbergh again on April 7, however, the game was postponed due to weather in the bottom of the fifth when the game was tied 7-7. The game resumed the following day, with the Lancers winning in dominating fashion, 18-7, improving to 11-1.  Senior Mitchel Hoffman led with seven RBIs including two home runs, and sophomore Tripp Johns wasn’t far behind, with two home runs, and with five runs batted in. The Lancers play next on April 13 at 4:30 p.m. against Marquette.

Boys Lacrosse: The boys team has had a rough start to the season going 1-5 to start the year. Senior Jack Thomas and junior Jaxon Khanna  lead the team with three goals apiece and Garrett Wood is doing the hard work between the posts for the Lancers in goal. Sophomore Baylor Adamovsky takes the face-offs for the Lancers and has a 31% win average so far. The team takes on Rockwood Summit at Crestview at 5 p.m. April 13.

Girls Lacrosse: The Lady Lancers faced off against Rockwood Summit on April 8. The Falcons took a commanding 9-3 lead, but they quickly lost it as the Lady Lancers came back and made it close with a score of 9-8 in a matter of minutes. Summit later went on and took control again to win the game, 12-8. The Lady Lancers remain winless and hope to gain their first win of the season against Cor Jesu on April 12 at 5:30 p.m. for Senior Night.

Girls Soccer: On April 6, the Lady Lancers beat Lindbergh 6-1, with junior Rylee Howard scoring two goals and junior Anya Shawke also scoring two. On April 8, the Lady Lancers defeated Incarnate Word 3-0, with Howard again contributing two goals. To cap off the week, the Lady Lancers faced off against Timberland and won 6-0, with Howard contributing four goals. The team remains undefeated, with an overall record of 7-0. In those seven games, Howard now leads with a total of 21 goals. Girls soccer faces St. Dominic at 6 p.m. on April 12.

Boys Tennis: On April 6, the Lancers defeated Rockwood Summit 9-0. This win was followed up April 7, with a 6-3 win over Clayton The Lancers defeated Ladue, 5-4 next to move to 6-0 and remain undefeated. They face Ladue at 4:30 p.m. on April 10.

Boys Track and Field: The Lancers finished second overall at the Northwest Cedar Hill Invitational on April 10. Senior Pernell Garner placed first in the 300 hurdles, with a time of 41.95. The Lancers took first in the 4x8o0m relay.  The team of senior Vikas Devulapalli, senior Eric Reed, junior Nikolas Malek and junior Bross Miller,  posted a time of 8:22:74. Junior Nikolas Malek also placed first in the 3200m, with a time of 9:53.32.

Girls Track and Field: The Lady Lancers finished in second place at the Northwest Cedar Hill Invitational on April 10, with 104 points overall. The duo of sophomore Elissa Barnard and senior Hope Ware finished in first and second place, respectively, during the 3200m race. In the 4×800 relay senior Katie Reed, senior Hope Ware, sophomore Elissa Barnard and sophomore Grace Tyson finished first with a time of 9:45:75. Senior Julia Stinnett placed first in the high jump.

Boys Volleyball: On April 6, the Lancers fell to Kirkwood 3-1, but rebounded the next day and beat De Smet, 2-0 on April 7. The Lancers continued their winning ways on April 8, beating Mehlville 3-0. The Lancers take on Oakville at 5:30 p.m. on April 13.

Girls Water Polo: The Lady Lancers fell to Marquette 23-3 on April 9.

Boys Water Polo: The Lancers lost to Parkway West 24-2 on April 6 and then lost later in the week to Marquette 20-8 on April 9. With a record of 0-5, the Lancers look to snap a winless streak and gain their first win when they face John Burroughs on April 12 at 5:00 p.m.
