This year’s successful wrestling year comes to a close with state wrestling at Colombia, MO, the Lancers took sixth place with 82.0 points, their highest finish since 1994. The team finished with five medalists: Tim Bogar, Chase Behrndt, Brendan McKenna, Austin Stofer and Alex Wier.

Behrndt and Bogar both took third place in the 152 pound and heavyweight classes respectively. Bogar finished his wrestling career at Lafayette as a three time state qualifier. Behrndt also finished his illustrious career at Lafayette as a two time medalist (second last year and third this year) and one the team’s best wrestlers year after year since joining the team as a freshman.

McKenna and Wier also both finished their wrestling careers as state medalists, with Wier being a four time state qualifier and a two time state placer.

Stofer placed sixth in the 160 pound class, and was the only junior from Lafayette to place.

Unfortunately, three of the teams seniors: Jordan Carson, Jon Fogarty and Noah Robinson did not place in their final state tournament. The team’s twitter (@LHSwrestlers) thanked them for their time as wrestlers, as they have all been on the team since their freshman year.
