Shoveling driveways, scraping ice off cars, but most importantly, removing snow from athletic fields isn’t what athletes should expect at the end of March.
We received more than 12.4 inches of snow on Sunday, March 24, which is the most snowfall in one drop since February of 1906, teams were therfore forced to postpone practices and even games.
Scheduled to take place this week was the boys baseball Midwest Classic tournament, Boys Golf Tri match, the girls lacrosse game vs. Cor Jesu, the girls soccer game against Ft. Zummwalt East, the girls track and field quad meet and the boys track and field quad meet.
The unexpected snowfall has also caused teams to be set back from the other teams. With snow and slush remaining on the fields teams are being forced to practice inside causing a disadvantage. At this point in the season most coaches are worried more about practice time rather than conditioning and training.
Luckily for the boys volleyball and water polo team, all there sport requires is a gym with a net and a pool filled with water. The weather will not be to any disadvantage to them.
More game cancellations and updates will be announced at all three lunches.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
