The wrestling team suffered a huge blow during the Spartan Invitational on Dec. 28. Senior Kyle Black, a returning State qualifier and one of the team’s top wrestlers dislocated his elbow and will be unable to wrestle until Districts.
“I get my cast off next Thursday (Jan. 13) and after that I will start rehab. So, I won’t be able to actually wrestle until Districts,” Black said.
Getting back into shape and getting strength back is definitely something that Black will have to battle in order to perform at a high level when recovered.
“It (how well I wrestle) will depend on how well I can stay in shape and how much of my strength I get back. If I don’t get enough strength back, I will probably just have it wrapped up tight and wrestle more defensively than normal,” Black said.
Black not only eyes making a return, but having quick success upon his return.
“I think I will at least be able to qualify, because our District is a little weaker this year, so I’m not too worried about it as long as I’m healthy,” Black said.
