The varsity baseball team won its first contest of the year by defeating Kirkwood 9-3 on April 1.
Senior J.T. Miller started on the bump and threw well, giving up only one run and striking out eight in five innings of work.
The Lancer offense also showed off its brawn , scoring nine runs on nine hits. The bats were led by seniors Jeff Kammer, Patrick Lyons and junior Ryan Mansfield. Kammer had three hits including a double with four RBI.
Lyons did his job as the leadoff man, setting the table for Lafayette with three hits, including two doubles. Mansfield had two hits, both of which were doubles. Senior Kyle Cooper also threw an inning of scoreless baseball following Miller’s outing.
