The Varsity Escadrille team held a “Prom Dress Preview” on Nov. 6 in the theater to showcase unique dresses that won’t be available in stores until January 2012.
Katie Whiteside, Varsity Escadrille coach, said, “We get this opportunity through The Wedding Gallery in St. Charles.”
Each member of Varsity Escadrille modeled five dresses. They used the theater as a runway, and displayed the dresses to the audience while Whiteside commented on the dresses.
While they walked across the theater stage, Whiteside also read answers to various question the girls were asked. One of the questions was who would you like to go to prom with? Needless to say, most of the girls answered saying they would like to spend their special night with David Freese.
Nagwa Abdelghfour, a representative from The Wedding Gallery, said that the 2012 prom dress line is unique in many ways.
“If a dress is purchased this week, no one in the school will have the same one because after Nov. 20, they will be shipped back to New York,” she said.
“The price range for the dresses is about $250-$900, but the average price is about $450,” Abdelghfour noted.
The most expensive and extravagant dress at the fashion show was a big, bright purple dress with lots of detail that was selling for $1,500.
Almost every dress design, length and color was modeled in the fashion show. There were cupcake dresses, long silk ones and short but elegant ones. Some of the trends seen on many of the dresses were corset backs and sparkly details.
Personally, I liked the long gold and pink dresses with criss-crossed backs. Anything with sparkle looked great, whether the detail was on the hip, the straps or the back.
If you missed the fashion show but would like to see the dresses, there is another show on Nov. 12. Dresses can be pre-ordered the day of the fashion show.

[Families] actually having the opportunity to have their kids on the field with us is the most important aspect,” Ben Lundt said.](https://lancerfeed.press/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/IMG_6823-1200x800.jpg)
