‘Something Borrowed’ is a must see

Just as many great movies have, the newest box office hit, Something Borrowed, started as a novel. Written by author Emily Griffin, it is an understatement to describe this book as a page turner. Yes, it’s a chick flick, but it’s one that men will enjoy as well.

A common trend with novels that hit the big screen is distortion of the story line. However having read the book, I can assure that director Luke Greenfield stays true to the plot.

A tale of two best friends, Something Borrowed follows the lives of soon-to-be-married bombshell Darcy, and her ever so loyal BFF, just-turned-30-years-old Rachel. All of their lives, Darcy has been the winner, mostly because Rachel has let her take what she has wanted. But when the opportunity arises, Rachel must decide if finally getting what she wants is more important than preserving her lifelong friendship with Darcy.

The movie features Kate Hudson as Darcy, Ginnifer Goodwin as Rachel, Colin Egglesfield as Darcy’s fiance and Rachel’s good friend from law school, Dex and The Office’s John Krasinski as Darcy and Rachel’s childhood friend, Ethan.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: How on earth could a man enjoy watching a chick flick? It’s simple: humor. Krasinski keeps the mood light, constantly cracking jokes. He fits the part perfectly, staying true to his comedic roots so often displayed through his role of Jim in The Office.

This movie is well worth the $10 you will spend on your ticket. I give it a superior rating of five stars!
