On Dec. 31 2016, Herman Kriegshauser, School Board Director, passed away. The Rockwood Board of Education is waiting to fill his position in this year’s election which will take place in April.

Currently undecided, the board will either attach the remaining time of Kriegshauser’s term to the next member or just allow the regular term.

To be able to apply for this position, a person has to be a tax paying resident of the district, a resident of the state for over one year, at least 24 years old, and a U.S. Citizen.

The position that needs to be filled has the responsibility of studying, evaluating and voting in the best interest of all Rockwood School District students.

“There’s a lot of responsibility in that. They are responsible for over 23,000,” Board Secretary, Janet Sadowski, said.

The next BOE meeting will be held on Thursday, Jan. 19 at the Administration Annex in Eureka.
