Welcome Center bathroom continues to be unusable
January 12, 2016
Since early December, Lafayette was has been short one men’s bathroom. The men’s bathroom next to the welcome center was shut down due to damages to the sinks and plumbing. The damages were caused by an unknown person ripping the sink off of the wall. Repairs are currently being done to fix all of the damages, but the project has hit a few bumps on the way.
“Some of our repair work was delayed during the holidays due to the repair work for Eureka High school. They asked all of the maintenance workers to come down and help clean up the aftermath of the flood”, said Principal John Shaughnessy.
The maintenance staff has also had to prolong the project because they’re planning to replace the old sink with a different, less expensive type of sink that would require redoing the plumbing in the bathroom. Because of this, the maintenance staff has had to wait for specific parts and tools to come in so that they can complete the repairs needed.
“This is going to cost over five grand in damages”, said a maintenance staffer working on the bathroom, “we had to take the wall out and redo all of the plumbing.”
As of right now the workers estimate that the bathroom should be finish around Jan. 22.
