On Saturday Dec. 3, the Lafayette Band Boosters Parent Organization is holding their annual Marketplace from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This event will feature over 100 booths featuring authors, crafters, direct sale representatives, and fitness experts. It will be held in the Main Hallway, Commons, and the Gym. The event will raise money for the entire music department.

“This year the Lafayette Marching Band is going to Orlando in May and will be marching in a parade at Disney World.  Some of the fundraising profits will support this band trip,” craft fair coordinator Kelly Blankenship said.

Money is raised in various ways during the event, the main being the fee vendors pay to be featured at the event.

“Other money raised from the event comes through the silent suction (raffling off baskets with items donated from the vendors), the baked sale (homemade items: brownies, cakes, cookies and sweet treats made from the LHS Band Booster Parent Organization) and also through the concession stands (of selling food items to both the vendors and the general public),” Blankenship said.

This year’s event will also feature local authors that have not attended the event before. Laine Boyd, Braxton De-Garmo and Ruth Foster will all be in attendance and selling their various books. Another new vendor is the Gourd House, which sells hand painted and designed gourds.

Marching band students and parents will set up the event, help run it, and clean up after it is finished.

“It’s an event where you’ll find something for each person on your holiday or birthday shopping list from infants to teenagers to adults. You won’t want to miss out on this exciting and fun event where you can shop and find some great deals and unique homemade items made from local artists and designers,” Blankenship said.
