On  Dec. 2, Lafayette sophomore Andrew Keithley was killed in a single-car accident.

Police said Keithley was westbound on Shepard Road when he lost control of a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse and crashed into a tree around  6 p.m.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

During his freshman year, Keithley was a member of  the boys basketball, boys volleyball and freshman football programs and as a sophomore participated in boys basketball and swimming. He also participated in Young Life, a Christian youth group.

“It’s a tragic loss for our school, our community and of course for his family. We are grieving and mourning at the loss of a fine young man. As a school we’ll pull together and we will get through this together, but it is a sad day at Lafayette,” Principal John Shaughnessy said.
